⁴² Saul said, “Cast lots to choose between me and Jonathan, my son.” Jonathan’s lot was chosen.

⁴³ Saul said to Jonathan, “Tell me what you have done.” Jonathan told him, “I only tasted a little honey with the end of my staff that was in my hand. Must I now die?” ⁴⁴ Saul answered, “May God do this to me and even more, for, Jonathan, you must surely die.”
